Often when money is tight at this time of the year you will often hear negative voices proclaiming loudly about “how commercial Christmas has become”, or “how they wish Christmas would just go away”.  I just think to myself that the old “Scrooge” must not have kids or he wouldn’t be saying something like that, even if it is true.

The really sad thing is that Christmas has gotten so very expense that there are plenty of good reasons for people to be worried about not having enough money to pay for Christmas for their kids.  The fact of the matter is that the expense can leave us in debt (if we don’t watch carefully over the amounts we are spending)  long after the wrapping paper has been recycled, the food has been eaten and we’ve recovered from the hang-overs from all the parties we’ve attended.

If you are in the situation were you need some extra cash for Christmas, it may be just the right time to start thinking outside the box, open your eyes and have a look  around your neighborhood. There could be a ton of ways to earn some extra income  from your neighbors, and that extra income may be just the ticket  to help fund the holidays and put those gifts under the tree for the kids.

After all, there is nothing better in the whole world  than seeing the joy and excitement on the faces of  kids when they get up early on Christmas morning, and high tail it down the stairs to see if Santa came in the middle of the night when they were fast asleep.

Ideas to Make Extra Money for Christmas

  • At this time, most of the trees have dropped their leaves and where do the leaves end up? In the gutters of your neighbors houses. Go around to the neighbors and find out who needs their gutters cleaned before the snow flies.  An extension ladder can be rented from home improvement stores like Lowes or Home Depot for about $25 a day. If you charged each of your neighbors $100 to $200 to clean the leaves out their gutters, and the mess on their lawns from the gutters, you could probably get at least 10 done, and maybe more, on a weekend.
  • People want their windows, blinds and shutters cleaned before their holiday parties, but often don’t have the time to get it done themselves. Let them know you are available for this service. Call a cleaning service in your area for the going rate and charge your neighbors a 25% to 50% lower fee to do the job.
  • People are always looking for more sophisticated holiday embellishments to decorate their homes with each year.   If you are a stay at home Mom that likes to sew you could offer a service making unique, personalized Christmas stockings and charge $50 a stocking,  if they are made out of high quality fabric with beautiful embellishments. By offer beautiful high quality Christmas stockings that customers can order with customized lettering on each, this is a home based business that could grow into a real money maker every season.
  • Write quality articles and sell them to Information marketers and to Internet marketers. Especially during the holidays, marketers online need fresh, high quality content, but don’t have the time to write it themselves.  Contact some of these marketers with examples of your work.
  • Your plans for Christmas can be radically changed by getting involved in the holidays in such a way that people will pay you a lot of money to do something that so many people do themselves every Christmas – installing their Christmas lights. Getting paid  in cash, writing your own schedule and make a sizable profit on every job…

Now that you have some of my ideas to make some extra money for Christmas, I bet you can think of more ways once you go out and look around. Any of these services could turn into a real business for you, once you put your mind to it.
