Tip #1 – Search Engines
As you well already know, when people are searching for information on line, they insert keywords into the search engine box to find the information that they are looking for.
It is the job of the search engines to locate websites that fit those keywords as close as possible. Search engines look for the most current information matching those keywords to satisfy the searchers. Using keywords that are relative to your business on your website is a necessity to help the search engines find you.
Tip #2 – Article Submission
Writing articles about your business topic is an excellent way to drive traffic to your website. Write interesting articles and submit them to Article Directories. Do not use PLR articles as article submissions, unless you have completely rewritten them.
Don’t listen to the newbies online that keep parroting that article submission doesn’t work, because it does work. The people that aren’ t making it work are those that don’t know how to do it the right way.
Include a bio/response box at the end of each article that you write, with a snippet of information about yourself and include a link to your website. If people find your article interesting, and want to know more about your topic, they will follow your link back to your site to get more information. If you have something free to give away on your website landing page, include that in your bio/response box.
Tip #3 – Joint Venture Partners
Do some research and find other websites that are similar in information to your own site. Contact the owner of the site of possibly joining forces to either swap ads or links to each others sites. If they have a mailing list, they may be willing to swap promotions to each others site. You could offer a discount for their subscribers only.
Tip #4 – Affiliate Marketing
List your product with affiliate retailers so that other people will sell your products for you, in order to earn a commission for the sale. This is the same strategy that brick and mortar stores use offline when they hire people to sell their jewelry, furniture, shoes and cars. Their sales associates are hired as independent contractors, not employees, to sell their products for a commission. This is highly effective as you can have thousands of affiliates advertising for you and they only get paid if they make a sale.
Tip #5 – Forums
Join forums or groups that are interested in your topic. Help the members find solutions to the problems they are having within your realm of expertise. Leave a link to your site in your signature. When people have learned to trust you because you have helped out so often, they will click that link to visit your site.
Tip #6 – Create a Customer Base
Offer something free in exchange for a potential customers email address. This will enable you to keep in touch with them by sending newsletters with information about your business. Offer free information and advice along with discounts on your products and you may gain a customer for life, instead of just a one time shot.
Tip #7 – Pay Per Click Advertising
This would be along the same idea as paying for advertising in a magazine or newspaper, except that instead of paying for a full page ad that people may or may not pay attention to, you only pay if someone clicks on the ad to read it. If the ad is linked to a page on your site that has a sign up form for your newsletter, you will get a new potential customer to your site.
Be careful with this form of advertising. however. Learn everything you can before using it because you have both the potential of getting a lot of traffic and sales, but you also have the potential of losing your shirt, and your pants too, if you don’t know what your are doing.
Tip #8 – Press Release
Write and submit press releases to several of the free press release sites. Write the press release in 3rd person format as if you are a newspaper journalists reporting on a new business. Be sure to edit your press release before submitting to make sure all spelling and grammar is correct, so that your press release will be accepted by the site you want to submit to. You can do a Google search to find the sites as there are lots of them.
Tip #9 – Give Away Reports
Going viral works very well for getting website traffic! Write short reports of any where 10 to 20 pages that has an answers to a specific question or problem concerning your niche, and give the reports away free. Be sure to include affiliate links and links to your website within each report.
Include the instructions on the first page of your report that that everyone has the right to give the report away to whomever they want. Your report will spread virally faster than gossip and where are they going to go for more information? Your site of course. They will be following the links in your report to either buy your affiliate product or to your website to buy your product.
Tip #10 – Submit to Website Directories
Submitting your site to website directories is another strategy that will help with gaining organic searches for your site and for creating backlinks. One of the largest, human-edited directory is DMOZ.org. It is one of the fastest tickets into Google. Make sure you get listed there. Do another Google search to find other website directories to submit to.
Learning these strategies is essential to getting targeted traffic to your website. Even if you had thousands of people visiting your site on a daily basis, if they are not targeted visitors, you will not make a sale. The idea is to attract the people that have an interest in the information you are marketing.
