The traditional model of brand building has been largely dictated by the technology available. When the means of communication was paper, the picture advertisement dominated, and gave rise to the clever slogan. The slogan developed into the jingle with the rise of radio, and the advent of television
allowed the creation of the commercial.
All of these have one defining trait in common; they inform in a non-interactive sense. You can turn away or read as you wish, but that’s the extent of your control over the content of the advertisement. This has left the power of brand building largely in the hands of the originators. The company creates its advertising, and people respond to it.
Most people and businesses don’t have the money to create massive media blitzes or overarching TV-radio-print campaigns, which left this approach almost entirely to the big names or those small companies willing to take a chance. Read more... (921 words, 4 images, estimated 3:41 mins reading time)
A woman switches on a tiny wireless chip that has been surgically implanted behind her ear, which then synchs up with the Web wherever she is in the world. The simple thought of logging on to the Internet triggers the system to turn on and connect to the Web. She could be on a bus or at the beach and from all outward appearances she’s just staring off into space. But she sees a three dimensional artificial world before her that she can manipulate any way she chooses by mere thought alone.
By looking at the trends of today we can begin to develop a image of what the Web of the future will look like. I believe the Web will improve and grow in a way that will dwarf its present existence and will improve and enrich everyone’s lives way beyond what we can imagine today. The Net will become as integrated into everyone’s everyday lives as much as, and even more so, than the television
or phone (in developed nations first, then everywhere). Television, communications and the Internet will merge. Read more... (1920 words, 6 images, estimated 7:41 mins reading time)
After more than a decade of building websites, I have determined that the WordPress platform is an essential part of my online business, because it is so quick and easy to install on a new domain.
In this article, I am going to review the Top 5 Benefits of using WordPress as a Content Management System (CMS) and the Top 5 WordPress Plugins that you should consider using on your WordPress blog.
WordPress Benefits
The reasons I like the WordPress blogging software
are many, but I can sum up my interest in WordPress in five key benefits:
1. Quick and Easy Installation – Most of the more popular web hosting companies have included “Fantastico DeLuxe” in the Admin Control Panel. By clicking the Fantastico icon, you are taken to a page that offers several pre-installed Content Management Systems (CMS), from which you can choose. WordPress is one of those pre-installed software applications, and you can install it by clicking the WordPress link and answering a few questions. Read more... Social media is all the rage. It seems to permeate almost every conversation people are having today – but it wasn’t always that way. I guess the the concept of Web 2.0 has taken on a life of its own. Many people are asking what’s next for the Web when we think about it’s evolution.
The Web is changing very rapidly. As social media has taken on a life of its own, many people are asking what’s next for the Internet. Even though there are many options to consider, Web 3.0 is going to be about user behavior. Sites have already begun using user behavior to shape the online buying experience.
The idea behind Web 3.0 is really simple. Leverage the data you have on individuals to improve their future buying experiences. This data comes from a variety of sources but is designed to eliminate the endless searching you might do for a simple task online. Read more... (525 words, 1 image, estimated 2:06 mins reading time)
Women business owners have long been the fastest growing sector of entrepreneurs, and it is very common for this group to lead the charge of social entrepreneurship. Social entrepreneurs use their business acumen to both create a profitable business and contribute to the greater good. Wanting to use your talents to create social change no longer requires a low-paying position within the nonprofit sector. In fact, many women are finding that the power and privilege that comes with successful entrepreneurship make it easier to make a difference, both financially and by promoting new ideas.
The majority of nonprofits rely on outside donors to keep the good works going. Running a for-profit business provides a broader opportunity for increasing sales and profitability, primarily because of the flexibility of private ownership over the purpose restrictions of a nonprofit. And, using the business practices and profits of a for-profit business to exact change allows the owner to alter priorities as needed. A nonprofit is locked into the stated purpose included in the organizing papers. Read more... (608 words, 2 images, estimated 2:26 mins reading time)
I just got done reading an excellent article about link building that James Jones, the owner of Micro Niche Finder, sent me the link to read. It is awesome and I learned some stuff from it too, so I want you to click the link at the bottom to read it too. It has some excellent information.
Here is the beginning of the article:
“You’re about to begin your journey to becoming a link building ninja.
Oh? You don’t know what a link building ninja is…
Hmmm. Let me grab my dictionary.
Here we are… A link building ninja is one who is skilled in the art of highly advanced link building; one who can find link building opportunities untapped by other marketers; a person trained to reverse engineer the link building strategies of others and destroys their Google rankings with ninja stealth. They rarely discover how their competitors stole all of their precious rankings. Read more... (185 words, 1 image, estimated 44 secs reading time)
