Start Your Own Digital Photo Blog

Digital photos are everywhere you go these days! It seems like just about everyone has a cell phone camera these days that can take images of just about anything in a matter of seconds. Working with electronic pictures instead of the traditional film photos is cost-effective, there is no used paper to end up in landfills and they take up virtually no physical space at all!

There are many different ways to let others enjoy your photos, from electronic picture frames to printing them out to storing them on your mobile phone. Whether you are a professional photographer or an amateur photography novice you’ll still enjoy the convenience of digital photography. And what’s better than just snapping lots of digital pictures is the easy way you can display them to others.

A “web log” or blog is a website that allows an photographer to publish instant updates onto Internet about just about any subject imaginable. A photography “web log” can feature the digital photographs you took on any specific day or trip. One of the newest ways to display your images to others is with a photography blog. You can add comments about your photographs and you can inform people about why you took the images and what was happening when you took them.

To start a photo blog you just need to find some free blogging websites and pick a blog name. Most blogging websites are fairly simple to get started with. When you are happy with a post you “publish” it and everyone around the world can instantly see it! You simply write your comments out in a post, upload your digital photographs from your PC and the blogging software pretty much does the rest.

With a photography web blog you can not only allow others to see your photos but you can also allow visitors to write comments on your posts. If you allow comments on your images then you can also learn what other people like and don’t like about your photos. Getting feedback from views to your blog is part of the fun of posting your images online.

Don’t worry about always composing a article that’s perfect. It is your photo blog and you can post pictures of whatever you like. You can post photos of a a recent trip one day and then put up photos of some flowers in your front yard the next day. Just try to enjoy the ability to publish your digital images so quickly with your own blog!

Another great idea is to start a membership site where people that pay, say $9.97 for a monthly subscription, for example, are allowed to download and use the membership photos on their own web sites.

The author of this article says to get started with a free blog platform, and that is good advice for amateur photographers to get their feet wet. However, if you are already an established photographer with a sizable portfolio under your belt, you would be much better off putting up a WordPress blog on a website with your own web hosting services.

This gives you much more freedom and leeway to what you can and cannot publish.
